Beginner Cooking Class for Kids

SUMMER SESSION
Ages 7-10

Local Chefs and cooking instructors take older kids through a detailed course of beginner culinary skills including:

-       introductory knife skills

-       measurements and conversions

-       sanitary food handling practices and proper equipment cleaning

-       herb /spice / ingredient identification

-       palette expansion

-       first-aid in the kitchen

…and MORE in a detailed and deliberate practice setting.  

THIS CLASS IS LIMITED TO 15 STUDENTS ONLY

As a team, or individually, students will make a dish to sample in each class.


MONDAY nights, 5:30 - 7:30pm 

Fees:

$165/month (4 classes) plus tax

 $45 plus tax one-time "Try It"  rate

 

 

STUDENTS CAN JOIN ANYTIME (tuition may be prorated if joining mid-quarter)

To prevent confusion regarding varying numbers of weeks in each month, or holidays when our office is closed, we group our classes and tuition into blocks of 4 classes per payment.

Tuition is charged as described in blocks of 4 classes following this schedule:

First Quarter Payment 1, due at time of registration or June 1st (covers class dates of 6/6, 6/13, 6/20 and 6/27)

Second Quarter Payment 2, due July 1st (covers class dates of 7/11, 7/18, 7/25 and 8/1) NO CLASS 7/4

-       first-aid in the kitchen

Come bake and decorate! Learn techniques like cookie painting, lacing, flooding, shading, make royal icings, flavored sugar cookies, drop cookies and much more!

 

LIMITED TO 15 GUESTS ONLY 

This class curriculum BUILDS on technique from one class to the next. It’s advisable to take all classes to learn and practice compounding techniques!

July 9 - Summer Time Beach Balls, Margaritas, Ice Cream and Watermelon Cookies!

August 13 - Elegant Wine and Cheese Cookies!

September 10 - Sports, LSU, Saints and Stadium Cookies!

October 8 - Cauldrons, Coffins, Witch Hats and Sugar Skull Cookies!

November 12 - Turkeys, Pumpkins, Pie Slices and Fall Leaf Cookies!

December 10 - Santa, Snow Globe, and Christmas Light Cookies!

We provide equipment, but if you have supplies you’d like to bring and test out, please do!

TUITION FEES: Full 6-class session (reduced rate), $300 plus tax ~ Single Class Rate, $55 plus tax 

ALL RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE 1 WEEK IN ADVANCE….so we can prepare your ingredients. Due to the nature of extensive class preparations, cancellations require 1 week notice, no refunds or credits available (reservation CAN be transferred to another participant).
